So here is the second show of 2012 and it’s a fun packed load of old twaddle as usual. Pete shows that he is clearly a professional podcaster now by completing three, yes three segways during the random chat section.

Matt tells us all about his new found love for NginX and how it thumbs it’s nose at Apache. The team also discuss Ubuntu TV which Canonical deliberately delayed till after EP18 so that TDTRS didn’t get a scoop on other podcasts.

The main topic this episode is “The Blackout Effect” discussing what, if any, effect people and wikipedia’s blacking out of their websites had on the SOPA protests.

Finally Matt and Pete in an effort to push glue up hill wade their way through the fifty two paragraph feedback emails that was sent in. And in the closing minutes Matt tells us some worrying news about EP20! What can it be? Oh god I have to listen now!

Yes, Matt and Pete return from their Crimble break stuffed full of chocolates and tangerines. The team tell us about the gifts Santa delivered and how one of them does like a nice pair of comfy slippers. Pete tells us about his dog Archie and his visit to the vets (Not for the faint hearted) while Matt is totally confused as to why it’s in the show. We hear how one of the co-hosts will be signing autographs at FOSDEM while the other will be sat eating cold bake beans in front of a candle.

Matt makes a slight mistake and links to the wrong G+ post (This is not facebook.) where Pete gets all passionate about ‘Contributing’ (Pete’s rant) The subject on everyone’s lips at the moment is SOPA and the guy’s offer this up for discussion in Room x1101.

The main topic this episode is “Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Arch, Debian, Fedora - How much does it all matter?” the guys come up with a brilliant idea for a definitive Linux distribution and Pete actually teaches Matt something for a change!

Matt gets to uphold his firm belief in openness and lays the TDTRS accounts open to scrutiny by the community revealing the amount of dosh that’s been donated to date. During the feedback details Pete completely loses it about a hand bag incident over Identi.ca.

This episode the team discover they need new teeth as neither of them can say “Bethesda” which apparently is suing Minecraft. We hear about Pete’s time at BarCamp Blackpool and how he attended three sessions that impressed him so much he has no clue who gave the talks or what they was called!

Matt tells us about Bagmify an application similar to Sparkle Share that he has written and his hopes of making millions from it.

The main topic is a passionate discussion of Apple and the passing of Steve Jobs.
Closed minds need not apply.

Janice has had her work cut out dealing with the flood of fan mail feed back, the team get a lesson in the GPL but still manage to find some unanswered questions.

This episode we find our intrepid hero’s sweltering under the famous blazing sun of the kingdom of Englishland. The team convincingly discusses the “Speed of light” story like some Oxford Don’s and pose the question “Should physics degree’s be handed back?” Listener Morten Juhl-Johansen Zolde-Fejer sends us a story about the anniversary of Libre Office but the guys take so long over repeating his name we nearly run out of time for the story.

In what now appears to be a potential Arch Linux section we hear how Gnome 3.2.0 is available in Extra and that ArchBang 2011.10 is released. Finally to try and get the humour back in we have a little play with “Draw a stick man” which passes 5 minutes if your bored.

Room x1101 returns with “Buzz words” with an interesting outcome.

For the main topic the discussion turns to ‘Release Cycles’ and should they be speeded up or slowed down?
